I am neither Armenian or Azerbaijani but this conflict fascinated me since it first popped up in my lifetime in 1988. As the power of the Soviet Union waned, this ethnic conflict, having been frozen for over 60 years, flared anew. Since 1988, the fighting persisted on and off, but the last few years have been relatively peaceful. That changed on September 27, 2020.

Azerbaijan announced that Armenians shot up some villages near the border, and thus they needed to counterattack to safeguard the their populace. Nagorno-Karabach…
